Officials from the Centre, UNICEF and the World Health Organisation (WHO) visited the water treatment plants at Sonia Vihar and Wazirabad and studied their operations and systems to ensure water quality is maintained.
Water Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said the officials wanted to understand how Delhi Jal Board (DJB) ensures the availability of clean water to Delhiites.
“In Western countries, no city carries out the massive task of purifying and distributing water on such a large scale. DJB delivers clean water to nearly 2.5 crore residents of Delhi. The officials praised DJB’s achievement,” Bharadwaj said.
