Kerala Water Authority Refuses to be Consultant for STPs

The construction of sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Kochi has been delayed, hindering the integrated development of the city. The Kerala Water Authority (KWA), responsible for setting up the STPs, has declined to be the project management consultants due to their involvement in another project.

The STPs are crucial in addressing the issue of sewage being dumped into water bodies. The KWA’s lack of response to requests for permission to set up the plants has further complicated the situation. The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) is willing to take on the responsibility if the KWA is unwilling.
