A report by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has revealed that most sewage treatment plants (STPs) in the capital city failed to meet standards for various parameters in August. The DPCC highlighted that although there has been some improvement in the water quality of the Yamuna River, it is still far from satisfactory in terms of dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, and faecal coliform levels. The committee emphasized the need to expedite ongoing projects of STPs to improve the river’s water quality. Out of the 35 STPs in Delhi, only 13 meet the prescribed water health parameters.
