Haryana Government to Lay 69 Km Pipes to Supply Yamuna Water to Gurgaon

As per plan, a 69 km water pipeline will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1,517 crore to supply around 1,504 cusecs of water from the Yamuna to the city.

WD News: To augment water supply to Gurgaon city and Nuh in view of the increasing demand, the state government has proposed a Rs. 2,267-crore project which will help fulfil water needs till 2050.

Under the project, the irrigation department will lay new pipelines to supply raw water to plants in the city and Nuh.

A 50 km feeder line, estimated to cost Rs. 700 crore, will also be built to supply Yamuna water to Nuh. The project is expected to be completed by 2026. The new supply line will cater to the drinking water needs of the city and Manesar for around 25 years.

The Gurgaon water supply pipeline will start from Kakroi in Sonipat and end at the Basai water treatment plant. It will be made of steel pipes.

“By 2050, the city will require around 1,504 cusecs of raw water,” said a spokesperson for the government. The Nuh feeder pipeline project has also been prepared keeping in mind the population of the district by 2050, he said.

These projects, according to officials, will prove to be a boon for the people of Gurgaon, Manesar and Nuh.
