As part of the Krishna Delta System (KDS) modernisation, the Water Resources Department has sanctioned ₹39.45 crore for restoration and desilting works in Krishna district.
According to GO Rt No. 512, issued by Special Chief Secretary (WRD) G Sai Prasad, around ₹28.25 crore has been allocated for the restoration and improvement of the Chandraiah Major Drain (from -4.800 km to 38.500 km), including cross masonry and drainage works. Another ₹11.20 crore has been earmarked for the desilting of Komaravolu Major Drain (0.000 km to 19.400 km).
The department has also directed that all designs and drawings be vetted by the competent authority. In addition, approvals were granted for ordinary repairs at Prakasam Barrage and a Budameru survey, considering last year’s floods that impacted Vijayawada City, NTR district, and Krishna district.
