Mohali to Start to Work to Supply Tertiary Treated Water

WD News: Residents of Mohali will soon get the facility of tertiary treated water for watering lawns as well as washing cars, with the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) all set to lay a pipeline for the supply to various parts of the city.

GMADA chief administrator Rajiv Kumar Gupta has said that the tertiary treated water project is likely to be completed by September 30. He said, “Tertiary treated water will be provided for irrigation, washing of cars, watering lawns and other purposes to stop wastage of potable water.” Also, two more STPs would be established.

In Chandigarh, the civic body has been supplying tertiary treated water to residents for a nominal fee of Rs 100 per month.

Municipal corporation Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu alias Jeeti Sidhu has said that in coordination with GMADA, it is planned to use treated water from sewage treatment plants for irrigation.
