The DJB Vice Chairman Somnath Bharti discussed sewerage and water related problems of Burari assembly constituency with senior officials of Delhi Jal Board.
WD News: Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman Somnath Bharti recently held a meeting with the MLA of Burari Assembly Constituency, Sanjeev Jha, at Delhi Jal Board Headquarters. Senior officials of Delhi Jal Board were also present in the meeting. Shri Somnath Bharti said that the purpose of this campaign is to identify public complaints related to water and sewer issues at assembly level.
In the meeting, discussions were held to increase water supply in the Burari area during the summer season to ensure that the people of the area do not have to face water shortage. Shri Somnath Bharti informed that Delhi Jal Board is working on Burari tubewells project to improve the water supply of Burari. Under this project, 25 tubewells are being installed at different locations of Burari. Tubewells have been commissioned at many places and at some places the work of installing tubewells has not been completed owing to technical constraints.
New sewer lines are being laid in the Burari area to expand the sewer network in the area. Through the expansion of the sewer network in Delhi, the Delhi Government is striving to clean the Yamuna River.
The “Contamination Free Drive” is being run at assembly level to make the capital region of Delhi a water contamination free area. Under this campaign, special DJB teams will be sent to Burari from the laboratory of Delhi Jal Board. The objective of the team will collect water samples from multiple spots and test them to check the quality of water. DJB officers of the concerned areas have also been instructed to participate in the drive. After testing the quality of water on the spot, if water is found to be contaminated, then the officials will immediately have to find the source of the contamination and fix it immediately.
