PMC to acquire Rs 530 crores loan for sewage channels & STP

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) plans to get Rs 530 Crores through loans to construct sewage treatment plants (STPs) & sewage channels.

As per further information, a plan of Rs 1,384 crore has been prepared to construct sewage channels and sewage treatment plants (STPs) in the newly included 23 villages within PMC limits.

For this, in the first phase, Rs 530 crores will be raised through loans. For this, proposals will be invited from banks providing long-term loans at low-interest rates.

In July 2021, the state government included 23 villages under the city limits in the Pune Municipal Corporation.

After the villages come under the PMC, its plan has been prepared. It will have a total network of 471 km of sewage canals.

The main sewage channels discharging it are 90. It will be 52 km long. Rs 922 Crores are spent for it, while seven of 201 MLD capacity, namely Mhalunge, Pisoli, Nanded, Holkarwadi, Wagholi, Manjari, Gujar Nimbalkarwadi will have sewage treatment plants. Its cost will be Rs 450.73 Crores.

A proposal of Rs 1 thousand 384 crore has been prepared along with other works.

Since this project is big, it has been decided to start the work by taking a loan in the areas where the sites will be occupied soon.

At present, two places at Manjari and Mhalunge are to be taken over. Rs 530 Crores works will be done in the first phase. For this, proposals for loans will be invited from banks.
