PCMC approves 200 MLD water treatment plant project

Considering the population growth and water demand of Pimpri-Chinchwad city in the next 40 years, the proposed 200 MLD water treatment project will be promoted as the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh has approved this project. Therefore, the way has been cleared to start the work of the project.

As per further information, the project was taken up to provide 267 MLD water from Andra and Bhama Askhed projects. Under this, 100 MLD water purification project has been implemented at Chikhali, and water supply has been started to Pimpri-Chinchwad along with the villages involved.

Now the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Administration should start the process to start the work of the proposed 200 MLD Water Purification Project at Chikhali. BJP MLA Mahesh Landge had effectively started the follow-up by taking the stand that the administration should implement the plan immediately considering the population growth and water demand in the coming years. A meeting was held with Commissioner Shekhar Singh and concerned officers about this a month ago. After that, the commissioner has approved the ambitious project on Friday.

MLA Landge said that considering the increased population and the need for water in the villages included in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in 1997, it was suggested that the work of the proposed 200 MLD water purification project at Chikhali under the Bhama Askhed Project should be taken up quickly.

The municipal administration responded positively to it and started the proceedings. The population of the city is around 30 lakhs. It will help to solve the water problem in the villages of Chikhali, Talawade, Moshi, Charholi, Dighi, Dudulgaon, Jadhavwadi.

MLA Mahesh Landge said “Considering the increasing urbanization of the city in the next 40 years, water will be brought to the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad through a direct pipeline from Bhama Askhed Dam. Under that, 100 MLD water purification project has been implemented and inaugurated. Now the municipal administration has approved the water purification project of 200 MLD capacity at Chikhali. Work will start soon. By December 2025, water supply will start in Talawade, Chikhali, Moshi, Charholi and Dighi areas.
