WD News: Another water treatment plant in Bhopal is to get a wash water recycling system installed soon, according to Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) city engineer Udit Garg.

A similar facility was first introduced in Bhopal with the Narmada water supply project and later replicated at the Idgah Hills water pumping station. The topographical and geotechnical survey ahead of the construction of the wash water recycling system is awaited.

The system is to have a capacity of approximately 3 MLD for the reuse of wastewater which is produced during the water treatment process at the existing 50 MLD Manuabhan Tekri WTP (Water Treatment Plant), an official said.

The 50 MLD water treatment plant was constructed under the AMRUT scheme for the treatment of raw water at Manuabhan Tekri. The reuse and recirculation system for the reuse of wastewater is the main component of the project. Once functional, the wash water recycles pumps are to run for 20 hours operation cycle with a capacity of 200 cum/hr each.
