Lucknow has STPs in Bharwara, Daulatganj and Vrindavan. A sewage treatment capacity of 179.5 MLD is under construction in the city.
WD News: A Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of 249 MLD capacity will be set up in Lucknow by 2025, according to Balkar Singh, Project Director, Namami Gange and rural water supply and sanitation department.
The plant will ensure that all the wastewater generated in the city can be treated in a day.
Lucknow has 33 drains falling into the Gomti river. The total discharge from the drains is about 550 MLD. A total 21 out of 33 drains have been tapped and diverted for treatment to STPs. While four of the drains have been partially tapped seven need to be tapped completely.
Additional project director, State Mission for Clean Ganga, Pravin Mishra said that Ganga Samitis have been notified in every district.
