Manila Water Launches Mandaluyong City’s First Microtunneling Project in Philippines

The project is part of the Php785M Mandaluyong West, San Juan South and Quezon City South Sewerage System.

 

WD News: Manila Water has piloted the first microtunneling technology in Mandaluyong City for the construction of the Mandaluyong West Sewer Network Package 1. The project includes the Aglipay Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) complemented by a combined sewer network, which will cater to households in Mandaluyong, San Juan Cities, and a segment of Quezon City.

The 60 Million Litres per Day (MLD) capacity (expandable to 120 MLD) Aglipay STP is expected to be physically completed by January 2024.

Manila Water Wastewater Headline Project Manager Joyce General said that the package 1 is targeted to be completed by December 2023.


Representatives from the Mandaluyong LGU Offices and Manila Water’s project team witnessed the arrival of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) which will lay the 1500-millimeters Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) sewer pipe

The Mandaluyong West Sewer Network Package 1 aims to collect wastewater from the city’s drainage system through a combined sewer interceptor system to the Aglipay STP to ensure standard treatment before discharging to Pasig river.
