Pune Municipal Corporation’s Additional Commissioner Pavneet Kaur visited the Dorabjee Water Tanks in Mohammadwadi, where water testing and infrastructure repair work are currently underway. She expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the water supply staff, noting that the team has been working continuously to complete the project within the stipulated timeline.
Kaur was accompanied by Prabhag 41 corporator Atul Tarawade. During the visit, both reviewed the ongoing works and held detailed discussions on persistent water supply issues in Mohammadwadi and nearby Undri areas. Tarawade reiterated that he had consistently raised concerns over water scarcity in the PMC General Body and said the administration had responded positively.
Officials informed that the NIBM Annexe water supply project had witnessed earlier delays, but steps are now being taken to expedite completion. Tarawade said there is visible progress on the ground following administrative intervention. He said, “I have repeatedly raised the issue of water scarcity in Mohammadwadi and Undri in the General Body, and I am glad the administration has responded positively.”
He further added, “Additional Commissioner Pavneet Kaur assured that the delayed project would be expedited, and she has stood by her word. The work has now picked up pace and progress is clearly visible.”
Highlighting the current status, Tarawade said that water has started flowing into the overhead tanks and the filling process is underway. He also noted that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is completing formalities for providing individual water connections to housing societies.
“We are committed to ensuring water supply to every household, not only in Mohammadwadi but also in the Undri hilltop areas. A comprehensive plan is being implemented and regular supply will soon begin,” he said.
Kaur also reviewed the technical progress and appreciated the work of the water supply department. She said, “I am satisfied with the work carried out by the water supply team under the leadership of Nandkishore Jagtap. The process for completing formalities for residential water connections has been initiated and citizens will soon see relief from water issues.” She further noted that trial water supply has already begun to the overhead tanks and directed officials to ensure that remaining bottlenecks, including utility shifting, roadwork delays, and local obstructions, are resolved on priority.
Kaur’s visit is part of the PMC’s ongoing push to operationalise the long-pending Mohammadwadi–Undri water supply project, which includes pipeline networks feeding overhead tanks near Dorabjee Mall. The project, aimed at benefiting nearly 1.5 lakh residents dependent on tanker water, has now moved closer to commissioning with trial supply underway and groundwork being cleared for fullscale distribution.
