Rajgarh District Ranks First in Water Conservation Works with Overall 81.60 Score

Rajgarh district has secured the top position in Madhya Pradesh under the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign by completing the highest number of water structure constructions in the state. The district has earned a score of 81.60 out of 100 so far. Rajgarh has initiated the highest number of works under the Amrit Sarovar target, surpassing its goal and leading the state.

Similarly, the district is ranked first in the state for initiating farm pond works beyond the assigned target. On the My Bharat portal, over 10,186 activities have been conducted against the youth registration target of 5,400. Due to these efforts, Rajgarh currently holds the top spot in the state with an overall ranking score of 81.60.

Under the leadership of Collector Dr. Girish Kumar Mishra, the district has undertaken significant water conservation works through the MNREGA scheme. Rajgarh received a target of constructing 18 Amrit Sarovar ponds, and site selection for all 19 ponds (exceeding the target) has been completed using the SIPRI app and entries uploaded on the Government of India’s Amrit Sarovar portal. Construction of all these ponds has started.

Additionally, Rajgarh has surpassed the target of constructing 1,866 farm ponds, finalising 1,989 locations via the SIPRI mobile app, and construction has already begun. Against the target of 3,500 well recharge structures, 3,600 sites have been selected and work has begun on 3,165 of them.

For well recharge structures alone, the district has received 18 out of 20 points in the state-level rankings for initiating 3,165 works out of the 3,500 target. Rajgarh currently ranks second in the state for initiating farm pond works.

Murna River Filled in Just 12 Hours with Bori Bandhan in Shahdol

In Jodhpur village of Sohagpur in Shahdol, the flow of the Murna River had dried up. As part of the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign, the Jodhpur Committee of the Jan Abhiyan Parishad and the local Gram Panchayat constructed a bori bandhan (sandbag barrier) in a pre-existing stop dam near the cremation ground. Thanks to voluntary labour (shramdaan), water levels in the river began to rise steadily. By the next morning, the river was brimming with water, bringing joy not only to the villagers but also to local wildlife. The river now has ample water for drinking and daily needs.

Cleaning of Meetha Talab in Dewas

The Jal Ganga Samvardhan Campaign is actively being implemented in Dewas district as well. Water conservation efforts are being carried out by urban bodies and Gram Panchayats, with the campaign continuing until June 30, 2025, to conserve every drop of water. This includes construction and deepening of water structures. As part of the initiative, the Meetha Talab located in Rajoda, Dewas was cleaned and beautified. Tree plantations were also done along the pond’s banks.

Water Retention in Bhandari River Even During Summer Due to Bori Bandhan in Umaria

In Umaria district, a bori bandhan was built in the Bhandari River by the Municipal Council of Manpur under the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign. This has significantly enhanced the river’s water retention capacity. The stored water is now available for both animals and local residents during the summer season.
