PCB contests civic body's Rs 25 crore unpaid water bill

  • 15 March, 2019 - The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has contested the Pune Municipal Corporation’s claim of the Rs 25 crore outstanding water supply dues payable by the board for 2016-17 and 2017-18 fiscals. While the PMC has set a March-31 deadline for the board to clear these dues, the PCB officials are insisting on a fresh look at the figures, which appear “inaccurate and exaggerated”.

The Cantonment Water Works, which is under the civic body, supplies drinking water to cantonment areas. The board officials have sought a fresh survey of water connections in the cantonment areas on the grounds that several of the connections shown in the bill raised by the PMC are non-existent and several public water taps are not functional anymore as people residing around them have secured individual connections.
